Introduction- Welcome to the Confessional

Greetings and Salutations! If you're reading this, you're most likely my professor, although if you aren't, that's all the better, as you can't tell if I'm not meeting my assignment requirements.

Although this is a blog I'm required to have, I am determined to enjoy myself, and luckily, the assignment given has made that easy. To start, a bit about myself: I am a freshman English major studying at a university located in the Midwest, one located in the same town I've spent most of my life. I'm a queer transsexual man, a fact I mention to give context to some of the poetry and related writing I plan to post here. I understand that these terms are considered outdated by many and offensive by some, but I enjoy using them to describe myself due to personal reasons I may or may not extrapolate upon in later posts.

As  for my interests, I have plenty of them. Writing, most obviously, but I also am interested in making comics and zines, collage art, and music. I play in a band composed of my boyfriend, myself, and a mutual friend, and am very passionate and active in the punk scene, more specifically the Springfield hardcore scene. I play the banjo, electric and acoustic bass, ukulele, and keyboard, and some of my favorite bands are Bikini Kill, Pansy Division, Giallo, Bad Brains, Ghost Mice, and Harley Poe. One of my larger passions is film, and I'm an officer of the film club at my university. Horror and Comedy are my favorite genres, with some of my favorites of both being Arsenic and Old Lace (1944), Some Like it Hot (1959), Fade to Black (1980), The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1974), and House of 1000 Corpses (2001).

I will be utilizing this blog as a combination online stream-of-consciousness memoir, a place to show off writing I'm proud of, and a place for reviews of movies, books, art, or notable places I've experienced. At the end of the semester, I want this blog to either serve as a time capsule for who I was at this specific time in my life, or to have the discipline to make this blog an indefinite project that will grow and change with me.

To all who stuck through that intro, welcome to the horrorshow. Remember to wipe your feet on the way in, and don't touch anything that looks breakable.
